Tbh is often drawn interacting with Among Us crewmates. On January 24th, 2022, Tumblr user rennegan reblogged a post by girlbito reading, "So obsessed w that thing its like the spokesperson for autism," adding an image of Tbh, gaining over 12,700 notes in four months (shown below). The character is also jokingly referred to as the "mascot of autism" or the "autism cat" by some. Tbh became popularized on Tumblr in early 2022, inspiring memes and fan art depicting the character in different costumes and situations.
Twitter user is also known as princestarangel on Tumblr, where he confirmed his authorship of the character on February 2nd, 2022. This is where the name "Tbh" originally comes from. The creature is based on a drawing of a similar creature made by the user sometime in or before December 2020 that shows the acronym "Tbh" next to it (shown below, right). On January 1st, 2021, Twitter user posted a meme captioned, "I'm playing Identity V, fancy a game?" showing a four-legged creature with a blank expression and black eyes, gaining over 180 likes in a year (shown below, left).
